The Role:
• Ensure that the works orders are produced in the correct order, to the correct quantity and on time.
• Ensure that the board is available prior to the works order being completed.
• Set the machine and ensure that the board can be processed in the most efficient manner possible with the highest production rates.
• Independently set up and operate complex cardboard manufacturing machinery according to job specifications and safety protocols.
• Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues.
• Troubleshoot minor machine malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
• Train and mentor junior operators on proper machine operation and safety procedures.
• Work closely with production planning to anticipate material needs.
• Monitor raw material inventory levels and communicate any potential shortages to the supervisor.
• Ensure a steady flow of cardboard stock, glue, and other materials to maintain production efficiency.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area for optimal material flow.
• Maintains a daily focus upon Productivity, Quality and effectiveness, observing any abnormalities and reacting to prevent disruption to the flow of product through the processes under your control.
• Creates and maintains Standard Work for all operations, seeks out improvements and encourages an environment of active continuous improvement.
• Works towards a high standard of cleaning / housekeeping including the introduction of 5S
• Oversee the production process to ensure adherence to quality standards and production targets.
• Conduct regular quality checks on finished cardboard products.
• Identify and address any quality deviations promptly.
• Maintain accurate production records and report any production issues to the supervisor.
• Ensures that the relevant quality system procedures are trained, followed and maintained in the department and cells. Promotes continuous improvement and a quality consciousness culture within the team
• Lead and motivate a team of operators to achieve daily production goals.
• Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the team.
• Provide clear instructions and delegate tasks effectively.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Trains other employees on the setting of the machines to ensure total operator flexibility
Requirements:
• Knowledge of Bobst, LMC and other cardboard manufacturing equipment an advantage
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of Automated Conveyor Systems an advantage
• Safety and environmentally conscious
• Knowledge & experience in the cardboard industry an advantage
• Clear effective communicator verbally and across cultures
