The Instrument Technician is responsible for the maintenance, calibration, installation, and troubleshooting of a wide range of instrumentation.
This role is crucial in ensuring that all instrumentation and control equipment operates at optimal performance, contributing to the efficiency and safety of engineering operations.
Perform regular maintenance, calibration, and testing of instruments and control systems.
Assist in the installation, configuration, and commissioning of new instrumentation and control systems.
Ensure that all systems are properly integrated into the operational environment and perform as expected.
Diagnose faults and carry out corrective actions in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
Troubleshoot a variety of instrumentation systems, including pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical devices.
Work with engineering teams to identify and resolve technical issues related to instrumentation.
Maintain accurate logs and records of instrumentation and control system issues, repairs, and calibration activities.
Prepare detailed reports and provide recommendations for improving system performance and reliability.
Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and industry regulations, including environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements.
Conduct risk assessments and ensure that instrumentation work is performed safely and efficiently.
Work closely with engineers and other technical staff to support project development and ongoing operational activities.
Provide technical support and training to other staff, as needed, on instrumentation systems and best practices.
Requirements:
Apprenticeship in a technical / engineering subject.
A relevant technical qualification (e.g., HNC/HND, NVQ, or equivalent) in Instrumentation,
Electrical Engineering, or a technical / engineering discipline.
Experience in a similar role as an Instrument Technician is desirable, however work
experience in an engineering environment or working within a maintenance / service
department is also acceptable.
Experience with troubleshooting, and maintenance of a variety of equipment.
Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Knowledge of safe working practices and procedures in an industrial setting.
A positive attitude and enthusiasm.
Willing to learn
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Strong time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
